Shipping, returns and authenticity
Everything that happens between choosing a painting and hanging it on your wall.
Delivery
I ship worldwide. A painting leaves the studio within three working days of the payment arriving, packed by hand and sent with tracking.
Packing is the one part of this I never hurry. The painting travels between rigid boards, wrapped so that nothing presses against the paint, in a box built to survive being handled badly.
Paintings are sent unframed. That way the frame can be chosen for the room the work is going to — or left out altogether: as an option I paint the sides of the canvas as a continuation of the picture, and the painting hangs complete just as it is. Ask for it when you write.
Delivery is quoted for each painting and each destination, because the cost depends on the size, the weight and where the work is going. You have the figure before you pay anything, and nothing leaves the studio until you have agreed to it.
Outside the European Union, customs duties and import taxes are paid by the buyer.
Returns
If you bought a painting that already existed in the gallery, you have 14 days from the day it reaches you to change your mind. Write to [email protected] and I will tell you where to send it.
The return journey is paid by the buyer, and the painting has to come back in the condition in which it left the studio, packed as carefully as it arrived. Once it is back safely, I refund the price of the work.
Paintings made to order are the exception. A commission is painted to your subject, your size and your colours, so it cannot be returned.
If a painting arrives damaged, that is a different matter. Photograph it while you unpack it, send me the photographs, and we will put it right.
Certificate of authenticity
Every painting leaves the studio with a signed certificate of authenticity — the title, the year, the dimensions, the medium and my signature.
Seeing a painting in person
The paintings live in Varna, on the Bulgarian coast, where I live and paint. If you are in the city, or passing through, write to me beforehand and we will arrange for you to stand in front of the one you are interested in. A painting in daylight is a different thing from a painting on a screen.
Payment
There is no automatic checkout here. You send an inquiry, we agree the price, the delivery and the dates personally, and only then does anything move.
Frequently asked questions
Do you ship outside Bulgaria?
Yes — anywhere in the world. The cost depends on the size, the weight and the destination, so I work it out for your address and tell you the figure before you pay anything.
When will my painting be sent?

Do the paintings come framed?
No — a painting is sent unframed, so that the frame can be chosen for the room it is going to.
If you would rather hang it without a frame at all, I can paint the sides of the canvas as a continuation of the picture, so that the work looks finished from every angle. It is an option — just ask for it when you write.
Do you paint to commission?
Yes. Write to me with the subject, the size you have in mind and something about the room the painting is going to, and I will tell you whether it is a thing I can paint well and what it would cost.
The price, the size and the dates are agreed before I start, because a painting made to order is painted for you alone and cannot be returned afterwards.

Will the colours look like they do on my screen?
Not exactly — no two screens render colour the same way, and thick paint changes with the light in the room. If you want to be sure before you decide, ask me and I will send you more photographs of the painting taken in daylight.
