He graduated from the Art College in Varna and continued his artistic education at the prestigious Academy of Arts in Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria. His professional journey subsequently led him to Italy, where he spent four formative years working alongside the renowned Italian artist Athos Faccincani.

The Italian experience became an important influence on Nikolov's understanding of Mediterranean light, color and the expressive potential of landscape. It strengthened a philosophy that remains central to his work today:
