City Lights on the Water

A night waterfront reduced to what the eye actually keeps: bands of light and their long reflections. Cobalt and ultramarine hold the top and the bottom of the canvas, and between them the lamps run in yellow, orange and pink, dragged downward into the water in straight vertical pulls of the knife. There is no drawing here, only colour placed where the light was.
