White Boat at a Violet Harbour

A small white rowing boat lies moored on a rope in the foreground, its hull glowing orange in the reflection below. Behind it, blue fishing boats with tall masts and a row of white boats rest in a harbour under a sky of violet, pink and deep blue. The water is built from thick strokes of cobalt, magenta and gold.

The small white boat in front glows orange in its reflection, and that warm note is set against a harbour of cobalt and violet. The tall masts behind give the picture vertical rhythm and lead the eye into the distance.

An evening harbour for a living room, hallway or study. It looks rich against white or grey walls and with navy or wood details, and at 65 × 50 cm it pairs well with another seascape.
