Moored at Sunset

A single boat moored between weathered posts, the sun still above the far shore and the whole harbour broken into flecks of gold, magenta and blue. The boat is the darkest thing on the canvas and everything around it is light — that is what holds the eye. Water and sky are built the same way, stroke for stroke, so the reflection weighs as much as the sky above it. Oil on canvas, palette knife throughout.
