Pink Tree in a Golden Sunset

A broad old tree in full pink blossom stands over a lavender field, its crown spread wide against a sunset of gold, orange and coral under a deep blue sky. The lavender in front is painted in tall strokes of violet, pink and green. The paint is laid on very thickly, so the blossom and the sky stand out from the canvas in relief.

The blossom and the sky are laid on so thickly that they stand out from the canvas; in side light the crown of the tree throws real shadows. The lavender strokes in front are tall and vertical, which pushes the tree back and gives the scene depth.

One of the most colourful paintings in the gallery and a natural centrepiece for a living room or bedroom. At 80 × 60 cm it suits white or grey walls, where nothing competes with its pinks and golds.
