Poppies Under Summer Clouds

Red poppies at eye level, painted one by one so that each head turns a different way, and above them a summer sky doing most of the work: heaped cumulus in cream, lilac and pink over deep blue. The horizon is a thin yellow line of a field beyond. The sky is laid in short parallel strokes that catch the light, the flowers in thicker, rounder ones.
